2956: Shrine Sections. Ironwood. L: 17”, H: 12”, W: 10” (for head), L: 15”, H” 14”, W: 10” (for tail). 19th to early 20th century. Unknown Dayak group, but possibly Kayanic. Borneo Island, Indonesia. Cut from each end of the shrine, the head and tail of the water buffalo would have represented the status of the deceased ancestor.
