2378: Basket/Mat Tool. Hardwood, antler, metal. H: 7.5". 19th to early 20th century.
Kayanic Dayak complex, Borneo Island, Indonesia.

Complete tool for weaving rattan baskets and mats, with very rare abstract motifs of intertwined, deconstructed dragon body parts. The metal tool section represents an abstract hornbill cask and beak. The best example of this type of tool that I have ever come across.
