55: Ikat Dyed Wall Hanging (“Pua”). Iban-Dayak, Sarawak State, Borneo Island, Malaysia. Private Collection, Unknown. One of three, possibly four, known examples of a rare and important type of ceremonial textile from the Iban. The pattern is called the “Well of Kumang”. Kumang is the Iban weaving goddess and the patterns are some of the most powerful.
