Exhibit - The Common Cord, Central Asian Textiles at the Seattle Art Museum,

Entrance to the exhibit: "The Common Cord", Central Asian Textiles at the Seattle Art Museum, 1986-87. The first exhibit of its kind in the United States that focused on the silk and cotton "ikat" dyed textiles of Central Asia. The pieces were drawn from several collections, including Mark Johnson, Andy Hale, Kate Fitz Gibbon, and Mark Griffith, all early collectors of this material.

One of the fantastic silk and cotton ikat wall panels in the exhibit, 19th century. The pieces were woven on extended looms in long strips, then cut and sewn together to make these panels.
