NAGA MUSIC CD

NAGA MUSIC CD: “SONGS FROM THE MIST, A CELEBRATION OF MUSIC FROM THE NAGA HILLS IN NORTHEAST INDIA AND BURMA.” FOR SALE TO BENEFIT: THE SOCIETY FOR THE PRESERVATION AND PROMOTION OF NAGA HERITAGE (SPNH). PRICE: $20.00 USD (not including CA sales tax and shipping costs).

This CD consists of 34 songs relating to Field Work, Fertility, Epics, Warfare, and Headhunting by most of the primary Naga tribes, such as the Ao, Sema, Yimchunger, Angami, Konyak, Chang, and Rengma. These songs were recorded by Peter van Ham and Aglaja Stirn, while doing field work and research for their publications: “Seven Sister of India” and “The Hidden World of the Naga.”

Most of the revenues of the CD go to SPNH, a religiously and politically independent non-profit society based in Frankfurt/Main Germany, whose aim is to support the ethnic groups summarized under the umbrella term “Naga”. SPNH aims at studying the remains of these people’s cultural heritage and to support it in selected projects, especially in the educational and medical field.

For membership and sponsorship information on SPNH, please go to their website: www.spnh.com.
