4706: Lidded Box
Unknown group, but probaby Toraja. Sulawesi Island, Indonesia.
Cotton, beads. H: 2.9" (7.4 cm), L: 7.75" (19.7 cm), W: 5.8" (14.7 cm).
Lidded and padded box with bead panel, depicting floral motifs, wrapped around the center.
The padding inside the box and top of lid suggests it may have been used to hold sewing tools
and materials or to hold delicate pieces of jewelry.
Ex: C.T. Bertling collection. Netherlands. Collected in late 1920s.
