Dragon Head finial

INV. #4688

Kebahan Dayak. West-Central Kalimantan, Borneo Island, Indonesia.
Wood, metal, pigments. L: 27” (68.6 cm), H: 17" (43.2 cm), D: 3” (7.6 cm).

Finial representing the head of a protective dragon spirit.
Because of the darker indoor surface it is unclear what type of object this was attached to.
Normally, this type and size of finial would be on the lid of an ancestral shrine, usually placed
outdoors. But, in this case it must have been part of a structure kept inside the shrine house.
