Pair of Rice Paddy Protectors

Bugau Dayak (Iban sub-group). Ketungau River, Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan, Borneo Island, Indonesia.
Hardwood. Male H: 35” (88.9 cm), Female H: 30.25” (76.8 cm).

These guardian figures were used to protect the rice fields and rice paddy stored in the granary from malevolent spirits.
This is a rare larger pair of male/female figures.
