Temple Plaque

INV. #4732

Bali Island, Indonesia.

Wood, pigments. H: 5.5" (14 cm). W: 11.5" (29.2 cm), D: 2" (5.1 cm).

A painted wood plaque from a temple with a barong figure. It is likely this piece comes from the rural highlands area of Bali.
Vigorous and more stylized, their imagery is a combination of Hindu characters and a more tribal aesthetic rooted in traditions
dating back to pre-Hinduism.
