Painted Wood Ritual Barrier (“Ampang Bilik”)
With Snake, Domestic Animal, and Human Motifs. Toraja, Sulawesi Island, Indonesia.
I have had other examples, but this was one of the better ones. Only about a dozen or so of these were known, most brought out by myself
and another colleague in the 1980’s. Very rare Torajan status symbol, reserved for the highest castes.
