Hip Ornament “Tikum or Fikum”

Mother of pearl, coconut shell, cordage. H: 6.5" (16.5 cm), W: 7" (17.8 cm).

Inscribed mother of pearl bivalve worn as a hip ornament by wealthy men of high status.
The ornament would be attached to a rattan belt and secured with a coconut shell disc.
